5 DIY Outdoor Succulent Garden Ideas

The sunny weather is here so it’s time to bring something new to our backyard and make it even more enjoyable. So why not put together a cute little succulent garden in a corner of your backyard? Choose different kinds of succulents, plant them in easy-portable pots so you can bring them closer to the house when winter comes, place them wherever you think it’s best and enjoy the view!

2. Arranging eco-friendly succulents in planters and making them look fuller
The easiest way to have succulents in your garden is by planting them in various planters and placing them around it. All you’ll need are various succulents, planters and cacti soil. Now you will probably want your arrangements to look full, lush and beautiful but to achieve that you will need to use lots of succulents which are not very cheap. There is a way to get full succulent planters without using so many succulents and hurting your budget – just use succulent ground cover!  They are perfect for adding softness and fullness to succulent planters.

You have probably noticed how expensive are all those little cute planters with succulents that are sold in different nurseries. Why spent a small fortune when you can make one on your own that is three times bigger and more effective. For this project an old, leaky concrete birdbath was used as a planter for different kinds of succulents and the final result was beautiful succulent garden which makes a great addition to any yard.

4. Broken Pots Turned Into Brilliant DIY Fairy Succulent Gardens
Turn broken pots into a small succulent garden that will look like it has just came out of a fairy tale! You will need a broken pot, your imagination, plants, and maybe some pieces of the broken pot to create an amazing fairy garden. Use your creativity to give it a personal touch by adding a miniature house, mushrooms, birdhouses etc. And you already know why we love this project so much – because it recycles old items, you are reusing broken planters that would have probably ended in the trash.

There are so many DIY vertical succulent garden tutorials out there, but we chose this one because it is easy and simple to do as it uses a ready-made shallow box. Besides the shallow box, for this project you will need, chicken wire, landscaping plastic, cactus soil, dried moss, succulent clippings, pliers, wire cutters, work gloves, staple gun, staples, wood scale, brush or rag. The final result is a stunning vertical succulent garden.
